When attempting to perform a Boot from Backup in a Hyper-V infrastructure, you need to ensure that the following requirements are met.

  1. Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Host OS's and onward are supported for Boot from Backup Drive. You can boot up to the same or newer Windows Server OS.

  2. The Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Service has to be running on the host you're attempting to boot to.

  3. Ensure that the Host's Firewall has the following range opened; 35200 - 35220.

  4. The Altaro management machine also requires ports (35200 - 35220) to be opened.

Note: Pass-through disks are not not backed up as they are excluded automatically from the backup set, as they're not included in Production Checkpoints. Therefore a Boot from Backup operation won't have your pass-through disk attached.
