When attempting to perform a Boot from Backup in a Hyper-V infrastructure, you need to ensure that the following requirements are met.
- Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Host OS's and onward are supported for Boot from Backup Drive. You can boot up to the same or newer Windows Server OS.
- The Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Service has to be running on the host you're attempting to boot to.
- Ensure that the Host's Firewall has the following range opened; 35200 - 35220.
- The VM Backup management machine also requires ports (35200 - 35220) to be opened.
Note: Pass-through disks are not backed up as they are excluded automatically from the backup set, as they're not included in Production Checkpoints. Therefore a Boot from Backup operation won't have your pass-through disk attached.
